The Gilded Quill Library

Every text of the Grade 8 year, quarter by quarter.

This is the full shelf for The Gilded Quill: every class text, Reader’s Choice title, and suggested novel named in the Grade 8 English pacing guide. How This Library Was Built

The pacing guide first, then the shelf.

Every title below comes from the district Grade 8 English curriculum guide, which uses the literature textbook as its framework. Nothing has been added and nothing has been swapped.

Only the guide’s texts

The class texts are the selections the lessons are built on. Reader’s Choice titles and suggested novels are the guide’s own lists for independent reading each quarter.

Read Free or Textbook

A title marked Read Free is in the public domain and links to a free, full text. A title marked Textbook is still under copyright; the page numbers point you to it in your literature textbook or your school’s online edition.

Reader’s Choice

Each quarter offers short reads and long reads to choose from, described on the Reader’s Choice pages of your textbook. Most are available through your school library.

A content note

Quarter 03 reads first-hand accounts of slavery, and Quarter 04 reads about the Holocaust. These are serious, true histories; read them with care, and bring your questions to class.
