Lesson 2p1 introduces the agile mindset and two of its most widely used frameworks—Scrum and Kanban—through the eyes of a Product Owner. Instead of treating agile as a set of ritual meetings or a buzzword, learners examine how agile ways of working create short feedback loops between users, teams, and strategy, and where the Product Owner is expected to create clarity about value and priority.

Agile Fundamentals: Scrum, Kanban & Flow
Learners explore the agile mindset and two core frameworks, Scrum and Kanban, through the lens of Product Ownership and
value-focused flow.
Lesson Overview
+
In Lesson 2p1, learners move from “What is a Product Owner?” to “How does a Product Owner work inside agile
frameworks?” The session introduces agile principles, then dives into Scrum and Kanban as two different ways of
organizing work and visualizing flow.
Throughout, the Product Owner is treated as a guardian of value and clarity: the person who decides what enters the system, how it’s shaped into user stories, and how it moves through each column, sprint, or state. Rather than memorizing process steps, learners ask: “Where does the Product Owner make decisions, remove ambiguity, and protect value in this framework?”

Reading the Board Like a Product Owner
An applied studio where learners analyze Scrum and Kanban boards, diagnose flow health, and narrate Product Owner
decision points.
In this activity, learners move from describing Scrum and Kanban to using them as diagnostic tools.
Working from a sample board (or their own team’s board), they practice reading flow, spotting risks, and telling the
story of the system as a Product Owner.
